Group Winners of Inaugural Morris & Essex Kennel Club Art Show
From among 119 entries received, the following seven Group Winners have been selected by Juror William Secord in the Inaugural Morris & Essex Kennel Club Juried Fine Arts Competition.
The Art Show was displayed in the Catalog Tent at M&E with Best in Show being awarded by Mr. Secord at 10:30 a.m. on October 7. The BIS winning piece will also be displayed at the William Secord Gallery, the world's leading gallery of dog art, in NYC, during Westminster Week 2011.
William Secord is the world famous author Juror:
Mr. William Secord
of the
William Secord Gallery, NY City
is an expert on nineteenth
century dog painting.
He is the first author to explore
the representation of the dog from its
origins to the remarkable paintings of
the eighteenth /nineteenth century and
up to modern times.
Secord was the founding director of
The Dog Museum of America
and is the author of four books on
nineteenth century dog painting,
most recently "
Dog Painting, a History of the Dog in Art".
His latest book,
“The American Dog at Home: The Dog Portraits of Christine Merrill”, will be available in September, 2010.
